Sevilla must play on their scheduled date

Sevilla asked permission to the UEFA to change their scheduled game against the Tottenham Hotspurs, but their petition was denied.
The reason they wanted to reschedule the date is due to a religious festival, Maundy Thursday, which is going to be held within the city. Such festival is going to be attended by several people and will affect the number present in the Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium. To the Spaniards it is a day of religious implication and deserves respect.
However, the UEFA informed the Spanish club that they must play the match on April 5th as programmed. Although the UEFA distinguishes the magnitude of the day and that many people will be heading to the city they alleged that they are a pan-European confederation and has dealt with alike situations in the past, but that they could not be in agreement to rescheduling games due to conditions associated to celebrations or other types of neighboring events. UEFA also affirmed that they have refused earlier desires of this character and that all other dates are occupied.
Sevilla is the current UEFA Cup Champion holder as they won the cup in 2006 and this will be the clubs quarterfinal first leg for the UEFA champions Cup.
